UOB's relationship with Vietnam began in 1993. We started operations with a representative office comprising just three people and two years later, became the first Singapore bank to set up a branch in Ho Chi Minh City. On 6 August 2018, we achieved another milestone with the official opening of our subsidiary United Overseas Bank (Vietnam) Limited (“UOBV”) and kicked off a new chapter for UOB in the country. UOBV became the fifth subsidiary that UOB set up in Asia and expanded into a team of more than 500 colleagues, reflecting our continued confidence in the country.
UOBV offers a range of personal and institutional financial services to both our Vietnamese and overseas clients. As part of our long-term commitment to provide best-in-class financial services and solutions to more customers across the country, UOBV Hanoi – our first branch in Vietnam beyond Ho Chi Minh City – was launched in June 2019. Our expansion into northern Vietnam, backed by the seamless connectivity offered through UOB’s regional network, ensures that we are well-positioned to connect our customers to the opportunities that Vietnam offers and to support Vietnamese enterprises in seizing opportunities across ASEAN and beyond.
